Second half opens on the road against Bearcats, Pioneers

THE RECORDS
Linfield enters the second half of Northwest Conference play trying to get back to a .500 record. The Wildcats are 7-8 on the season with a 3-5 NWC mark. Willamette (6-8, 5-3 NWC) is tied for third place with George Fox while Lewis & Clark (1-12, 0-8 NWC) is still looking for its first NWC victory.
 
LINFIELD AT A GLANCE
The Wildcats are feeling good after a thrilling five-set reverse sweep of defending champion and first-place Whitworth in Spokane. It was their first win over the Pirates since 2017 and the first win in Spokane since 2009. Marina Erosa (15), Raelynn Hammock (15), Kara Thomas (14) and Ellie Mead (10) all racked up double digit kills in the upset.
 
Hammock leads the team with 184 kills and 3.29 kills per set. She's second on the team to Paige Richards (3.60) with 2.98 digs per set. Erosa is up to 132 kills and 99 digs on the season. Ellie Mead's 1.07 blocks per set ranks No. 2 in the NWC. Aylea Dixon is averaging 7.62 assists per set.
 
WILLAMETTE AT A GLANCE
The Bearcats swept Lewis & Clark in Portland on Friday but lost in straight sets at George Fox on Saturday. They are fourth in the NWC with 1.79 service aces and 16.06 digs per set. Olivia Cadien leads the attack with 176 kills and 3.38 kills per set, which rank second in the NWC. Dani Queja has been a solid No. 2 option with 2.19 kills per set. Shyla Sato's 290 digs and 5.58 digs per set both rank second in the conference.
 
LEWIS & CLARK AT A GLANCE
The Pioneers dropped 11 straight matches since their three-set win over Hollins University back on Sept. 3. They are averaging 8.4 kills, 7.7 assists and 15.8 digs per set. Izzy Willis is right at the century mark with 100 kills to go with 2.33 kills per set. Ellie Weber has 79 kills and 54 digs on the year. Emma Ehlers leads the team with 30 blocks while Bethany Ballesteros has 106 assists.
 
HISTORY
Linfield and Willamette have played each other 60 times. The Wildcats won 26 of those matches. The Wildcats are 12-16 in Salem. The Wildcats are looking to top the Bearcats for the first time since 2017. The Bearcats won the first meeting of the year in five sets back on Sept. 16 in McMinnville.
 
Linfield is 43-16 in the all-time series with Lewis & Clark. The Wildcats are 18-10 on the road against the Pioneers. The longest win streak for the Wildcats was 29 matches between the 1995 and 2007 seasons. The Wildcats won back-to-back matches, including the first meeting of the season, a 3-1 victory on Sept. 17 at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
