Linfield men's and women's wrestling are set to take the mat in 2022-23, becoming the 22
nd and 23
rd NCAA Division III sports at Linfield. This is the first time the Wildcats have added a varsity sport since women's lacrosse in 1997.
The Wildcats had a men's wrestling program that competed at the NAIA level until 1986. A group of students started a wrestling club last fall, and now they will get to compete at the NCAA level under head coach

MEN
The Linfield men have 13 matches and tournaments to tackle in 2022-23. They are highlighted by four events at home.
The Wildcats will host the Mat 'Cat Invitational on Sunday, Jan. 8, at Ted Wilson Gymnasium. They also host dual matches on Nov. 10 against Pacific and Dec. 11 against Southern Oregon. The 'Cats will welcome both Umpqua Community College and Grays Harbor College on Jan. 19.
The season begins against North Idaho on Nov. 5 in Yakima, Washington. Following their home dual with Pacific, the 'Cats will hit the road for a dual at Oregon State (Nov. 13) before competing at the Big Bend Community College Scramble (Nov. 19) and the Spokane Community College Open (Nov. 20).
Linfield leaves the Pacific Northwest just once this season when they head down to Las Vegas to take on the Wartburg Desert Duals on Dec. 18. Other road events include the Boxer Open on Jan. 15, matches against Eastern Oregon and Embry Riddle in La Grande on Jan. 28, and duals at Corban (Feb. 2) and Pacific (Feb. 13).
The NCAA Upper Midwest Regional will take place on Feb. 24. The NCAA Division III Men's Championships is on March 10 in Roanoke, Virginia.
WOMEN
The Linfield women have five home events this season. They will join the men's team in hosting duals with Pacific on Nov. 10 and Southern Oregon on Dec. 11. The Wildcats will also compete in the Mat 'Cat Invitational (Jan. 8). The remaining home duals include Umpqua and Grays Harbor on Jan. 19 and Southwestern Oregon Community College on Feb. 2.
The season begins at Big Bend Community College on Nov. 5. Following their home dual against Pacific, the 'Cats will be in action at three tournaments, including the Pacific Mike Clock Open (Nov. 13), the Big Bend Scramble (Nov. 19) and the Spokane Open (Nov. 20).
Two other big tournaments during the season are the Wartburg Desert Duals (Dec. 18) in Las Vegas and the Oregon Wrestling Classic (Jan. 14) in Redmond, Oregon. The final duals of the season will be at Eastern Oregon on Jan. 28 and Pacific on Feb. 13.
The NCWWC Northwest Regional is set for Feb. 18. The NCWWC Championships are on March 3 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
