Dean has career night for 'Cats in loss to Blues

McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Senior outside hitter Regan Dean had a monster offensive performance, but the Linfield volleyball team fell to Whitman in four sets on Saturday night at Ted Wilson Gymnasium.
 
Dean finished with a match-high and a career-best 21 kills to go with 15 digs, one assist and a .255 hitting percentage. The 21 kills surpassed her former season-high of 14 kills, accomplished twice this fall.
 
Whitman won by scores of 25-20, 25-22, 18-25 and 25-22. The Wildcats totaled 51 kills, three aces, six blocks, 51 assists and 90 digs in the loss while the Blues had 42 kills, five aces, nine blocks, 41 assists and 88 digs.
 
Junior middle blocker Seraiah Ochse also finished with double digit kills with 10 to go with a .207 hitting percentage while sophomore outside hitter Maddie Broyhill had a season-high nine kills. Freshman libero Paige Richards finished tied for the match-high with 24 digs while sophomore setter Mia Naccarato tallied 38 assists.
 
Ochse ranks seventh in the Northwest Conference with a .286 hitting percentage. Junior middle blocker Ellie Mead is seventh in the NWC with 0.79 blocks per set after finishing with a pair of blocks against the Blues.
 
The Blues were led offensively by Sophia Dominitz, who had 10 kills and a .304 hitting percentage. Christina Boxberger and Emma Anderson also had themselves a solid night with seven kills apiece while Tate Cadang tied with Richards with 24 digs.
 
NEXT
The Blues improved to 4-9 overall and 2-2 in Northwest Conference play with the victory. The 'Cats fell to 4-7 overall with a 0-4 conference mark with the loss.
 
The 'Cats look to snap a five-match skid and pick up their first win in NWC play as they hit the road to play at Lewis & Clark at 7 p.m. on Friday and at Pacific at 6 p.m. on Saturday.
