DUPONT, Wash. - The Linfield men's golf team began its fall season, competing Saturday and Sunday in the Collegiate Invitational hosted by Pacific Lutheran at The Home Course. The Wildcats finished seventh as a team, shooting a combined score of 627 over Sunday and Monday, 51 strokes over par.
Linfield was led by sophomore
Bryce Hatcher, finishing tied for 17
th with an overall score of 152, 8 over par. Hatcher opened the tournament shooting 73 on Sunday followed by a 79 on Monday.
Two more sophomore Wildcats,
Riley Lynch and
Trevor Price, had the second- and third-best performances for Linfield, respectively. Lynch tied for 32
nd with a total score of 157, 13 over par, while Price finished tied for 34
th at 158.
Lynch saw a five-stroke improvement with a score of 76 on Monday after shooting 81 on Sunday. Price shot 79 both days.
Junior
Ahron Abraham was the fourth Wildcat to finish in the top-40, shooting 80 on both days for a score of 160, 16 over par, to tie for 37
th place.
Sophomore
Chris Cayford opened the tournament shooting a 79 on Sunday but added three strokes on Monday, finishing 41
st with a total score of 161, 17 over par.
Alexandre Collard, the lone freshman to score for the Wildcats, finished 47
th with a total score of 162, 18 over par, in his collegiate debut.
Community college Bellevue College finished first in the tournament, shooting a combined 585 and 9 over par. The Bulldogs showed significant improvement over the tournament, shooting 298 on Sunday but dropping to 287 on Monday.
Host team Pacific Lutheran led all Northwest Conference schools with a combined 587 over Sunday and Monday, shooting 11 over par.

Linfield will compete on its home course on Saturday and Sunday, hosting the Wildcat Invitational at Michelbook Country Club in McMinnville .
