McMINNVILLE, Ore. – Linfield football is back and so are the accolades as Travis Swanson was named to the D3football.com Team of the Week, announced Tuesday.
 
A senior defensive end from Hailey, Idaho, Swanson helped to anchor the defense in the Wildcats' 56-20 victory over Division II Simon Fraser on Saturday. The 'Cats blanked SFU in the first and third quarters. Swanson finished with four tackles, two solo. Three of his tackles were for loss for minus-11 yards.
 
"We're very proud of Travis," head coach Joseph Smith said. "He had a tremendous preseason perfecting his craft and he took that mastery and put it to use against Simon Fraser. He was a great force for us pressuring the quarterback and setting the edge for any run his way."

The 'Cats are on the road this week, playing at Redlands at 7 p.m. on Saturday. Conference play begins on Oct. 2 with the 'Cats playing at Puget Sound.
