Lauren Flood has been hired as assistant certified athletic trainer at Linfield University. Flood's hiring was announced Friday by head certified athletic trainer
Duane Duey.
Â
Flood joins a full-service sports medicine staff at Linfield that includes Duey and assistant ATCs
Greg Hill and
Krista Francisco-Sluss.
Â
"Lauren comes highly recommended and has a good amount of Division III collegiate experience," said Duey. "She has a diverse skill set and is a young energetic professional. We feel she is a valuable asset to our athletic training program and will help us expand coverage and support of our student-athletes. We are excited to add her to our team."
Â
Flood comes to Linfield from fellow Division III institution Lake Forest College in Lake Forest, Illinois. She spent three years with the Foresters athletic training staff.
Â
Among the highlights of Flood's tenure at Lake Forest were providing coverage for the softball program during the team's national tournament appearance and accompanying the women's ice hockey team to its conference tournament two years in a row.
Â
Flood also served as an assistant ATC at the University of Illinois at Chicago during the 2017-18 academic year. While at UIC, she worked at the NCAA Men's Gymnastics Championships.Â
Â
In addition, she provided medical treatment at Chicago-area sports events, covering youth and club adult league sports such as football, soccer, basketball, hockey, rugby and volleyball.
Â
Her professional career also includes two years as the head athletic trainer at Schoolcraft High School, a time during which she attended graduate school at Western Michigan University.
Â
Flood earned her bachelor of science degree from the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire. She is a member of the National, Great Lakes, and Illinois Athletic Trainers' Associations.
Â
"I'm extremely happy to join the Linfield athletic staff," said Flood. "Linfield's history of student-athlete success and the university's location in the Pacific Northwest is very exciting to be a part of."
Â
She and her fiancé, Gunnar, are planning a June wedding.
