WARRENTON, Ore. – The Linfield men's golf team took the course again this weekend, finishing in seventh place out of nine teams at the George Fox Fall Invitational on Saturday and Sunday at the Astoria Golf & Country Club.

The Wildcats finished with a final two-round team score of 609, just one stroke behind sixth-place Pacific. The 'Cats shot a 302 in the opening round and a 307 in the second round.

Leading the way for the 'Cats for the second straight tournament was
Riley Lynch. The sophomore finished in a five-way tie for 17
th place with a score of 5-over-par 149. He opened the tournament with a 4-over-par 76 and then improved by three strokes in the second round at 1-over-par 73.

Chris Cayford also performed well for the 'Cats, finishing in a three-way tie for 25
th place at 8-over-par 152. Cayford carded 3-over-par 75 on Saturday and 5-over-par 77 on Sunday.

Fellow sophomore
Trevor Price finished in a four-way tie for 29
th place at 10-over-par 154 while freshman
Grant Moen rounded out the Linfield scoring players in 36
th place at 157.

Willamette finished atop the team leaderboard at 13-under-par 563, seven strokes ahead of second-place Whitman. Whitworth's Caleb Belton won the individual title at 6-under-par 138 after carding 3-under-par 69 in both rounds. Belton edged out three players who tied for second place at 5-under-par 139.

The 'Cats will close their fall season at the Northwest Conference Fall Classic on Oct. 9-10 at the Quail Valley Golf Course in Banks, Oregon.
