Injury in 110 hurdles derails Keaton Wood at NCAAs

GENEVA, Ohio – A freak injury in the sixth event of the men's decathlon forced Linfield's Keaton Wood to withdraw from the competition Friday during the second day of action at the 2019 NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships held at the Spire Institute.
 
Wood hit the first hurdle during the 110-meter hurdles race, injuring his knee and forcing him to withdraw from the remaining events.
 
Wood started the day started the day in fourth place and was in a great position to finish in the top eight overall and earn All-America honors.
 
On Thursday, Linfield's Olivia McDaniel won the Division III women's pole vault championship, clearing a personal best 11 feet, 5½ inches.
