McMINNVILLE, ORE. – After a strong start and an early 1-0 lead, the Linfield Wildcats fell to the Lewis & Clark Pioneers 10-4 on Tuesday night at Roy Helser Field. The rubber-match of the series, Lewis & Clark took the Northwest Conference baseball series, 2-1 after rain postponed the original Sunday series finale. Linfield drops to 5-23 overall and 3-18 in conference play. Lewis & Clark improves to 9-22 on the season with a 4-14 NWC record.
RECAP
- Linfield took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. A groundout off the bat of Ben Whitt to first allowed Ayden Allen who scored from third on a head-first slide into home to avoid the tag.
- David Brosius started for the Wildcats. He threw four strong innings before struggling in the fifth. He threw 4.2 innings where he gave up four runs, three earned with four strikeouts and one walk.
- The Pios tagged the Wildcats for four runs in the fifth. A double by Cooper Larson allowed Matt Donovan to score to highlight the four-run inning.
- Lewis & Clark would add to the lead in the seventh against Matt McDonald. A single to center from Ryan Ericksen scored two and made it 7-1, Pios.
- The 'Cats would add another run in the eighth when Wyatt Smith knocked a single into right that scored Kurt Potter from third. Potter reached on a double into left center. Smith would come around to score on a Pios error.
- Lewis & Clark added another run pair of runs in the ninth.
- Smith, Kurt Potter and Tanner Earhart each had multiple hits in the game. Potter had a pair of doubles.
- Linfield totaled six hits in the loss to the Lewis & Clark 13. Both teams committed three errors.

Linfield travels to Southern California to take on Whittier and Cal Lutheran on April 12-14. The 'Cats take on the Kingsman for a three-game series on Friday, April 12 at 2 p.m.
