TACOMA, Wash. Double-doubles by
Regan Dean and
Aylea Dixon led the Linfield Wildcats on Saturday night, who fell 3-0 to the Pacific Lutheran Lutes.
A 5-0 run to start the match for the Lutes, helped them take control of the first set, winning in 25-12.
Early starts were the key for the Lutes, who led 7-1 to start the second set. The Wildcats got to within 23-17 on an ace by Dixon, but the Lutes won the second set 25-17.
The third set was the most competitive of the match and the Wildcats led the third, 10-9 on two straight kills by Dean.
Linfield went up 20-17 on a kill by
Leisa Eto, but Pacific Lutheran was not done yet.
Looking to stay in the match at 24-23, Linfield's
Megan Stanek fought off the first set point and an attacking error by Pacific Lutheran gave Linfield its first chance to win the set.
A service error spoiled the set point chance and tied it at 25. The Lutes needed three set points to close out the Wildcats and won the match with a 29-27 third set win.
Dean had 10 kills and 14 digs for her double-double, while Dixon had 30 assists and 10 digs.
Megan Pallas and
Lori Cimmiyotti had two blocks each, while Dixon had one.
Maya Nakasone maintained her average of 4.04 digs per set with 12 on Saturday night, she is sixth in the Northwest Conference with that average.
The Wildcats are now 1-11 in conference play while the Lutes are 7-5.
