George Fox handles Linfield easily

NEWBERG, Ore. – Looking to snap a four-match losing streak, the Linfield Wildcats fell 3-0 to the George Fox Bruins on the road on Saturday night. The Wildcats have lost 11 of their last 12.

The Bruins are 5-5 in Northwest Conference play, while the Wildcats are 1-9, which is last in the conference.

Linfield was the better team for most of the first set, leading 10-6 on a kill by Raelynn Hammock, but George Fox won four straight points at 16-14 and used the cushion to close out the first set 25-22.

Back-to-back kills by Lori Cimmiyotti and Regan Dean got the Wildcats close, but the Bruins hung on.

The final two sets were dominated by the Bruins, who won the second set 25-18. The closest the Wildcats got in that set was at 11-9 on an ace by Leisa Eto, but the Bruins were able to close out the set easily.

The third set ended before it started for Linfield, who was down 9-0 to begin and scored just 10 points in the set, which tied the lowpoint for the season.

Landing just nine percent of their attacks was the big reason the Wildcats fell in this one, compared to 27.8 percent for the Bruins.

Hammock had another double-double with 12 kills and 15 digs.

Maya Nakasone had 12 digs, Aylea Dixon had 21 assists and Dean had 2 aces to round out the statistical leaders for the Wildcats.

The Wildcats have lost five straight and have the fewest wins in the conference.
