Stan Manley is in his second year as head coach of the Linfield baseball program.
He took over for longtime manager Scott Carnahan, who retired following the 2017 season. Manley served as lead assistant coach under Carnahan for two seasons, helping Linfield capture the 2017 Northwest Conference regular-season and tournament championships.
Manley boasts extensive coaching experience at the high school level. In 14 seasons (1991-99 and 2011-15) as head coach at Sheldon High School in Eugene, he guided the Irish to five league titles and two state championships. His overall record of 241-140 included a 22-9 win-loss mark in the playoffs, including 18-3 over his last five seasons. Manley also coached summer baseball at the Legion A level for several seasons in the 1990s and 2010s.
A two-time OSAA 6A State Coach of the Year, Manley lettered in three sports at his alma mater, and was inducted into the Sheldon Hall of Honor in 2010.
Manley was a three-year baseball letterwinner at Linfield and helped the Wildcats capture the NWC championship his senior season. He graduated in 1982 with a bachelor’s degree in business, and after 20-plus years of working in the health care industry, recently began a new career as a certified academic and life coach.
Manley met his wife, Liz ’84 , at Linfield. His father, Gene ‘60 played baseball for the Wildcats as did his son, Zach ’14.
