PORTLAND, Ore. –
Jeff Lieder posted a college-best of 15.49 meters (50-9¾) in the shot put and
Emma Knudson lowered her 5,000-meter time to 17:26.51, leading the way for Linfield in the two-day Portland Invitational held Friday and Saturday at George Fox and Lewis & Clark Colleges.

Lieder's best mark of the day came on his second attempt, good for a second-place finish. The result topped his previous best of 15.41m (50-6¾) set last season. Knudson crossed the line in 11th place. Her new personal best now ranks among the top five in Linfield track and field history.

In other field events,
Dana Brooks finished sixth in the javelin with a mark of 35.12m.
Mehana Sabado-Halpern took third place in the long jump with her leap of 5.22m. She returned to finish fourth in the triple jump with a jump of 11.32m. Freshman
Meg Angier scored a third-place finish in the pole vault with a clearance of 3.30m.

Keaton Wood was forced to withdraw from the grueling two-day event when a finger injury prevented him from clearing a height in pole vault.

Two other 'Cats competed in the track portion of the meet as
Kaelia Neal and
Courtney Beard also ran the women's 5,000. Neal finished in 15th place with her effort of 17:44.97 and Beard right behind in 16th with a time of 17:45.12.

Next
The George Fox Final Qualifier is set for Wednesday and Thursday at Stoffer Family Stadium. The first day of the Decathlon and Heptathlon is Wednesday with the conclusion of those events and the remainder of the meet on Thursday.
