Wildcats net high marks at Rich Allen Classic

NEWBERG, Ore. – The Linfield men and women both placed second in the team scoring to host George Fox in the Rich Allen Classic held at the Stoffer Family Stadium on the George Fox campus.
 
"I thought we did pretty well considering we have had a tough couple weeks of workouts," said Linfield coach Travis Olson.
 
Leading highlights
The trio of Kaelia Neal, Emma Knudson and Courtney Beard swept the top three spots in the women's 5,000 and now rank fourth, fifth and sixth, respectively, on Linfield's Top 10 list. Neal won the event in a time of 17:30.24, followed by Knudson in second (17:32.73). Beard was third (17:37.64).
 
Freshman Meg Angier made the Linfield Top 10 list with her runner-up finish in the pole vault by clearing 3.26 meters (10-8). She is ranks ninth all-time in the event.
 
On the men's side, Keaton Wood reached the Northwest Conference qualifying standard in both the 200 and the javelin. It was Wood's first time competing in the javelin, yet he finished third (51.97m, 170-6) and also placed third in the 200 (22.92).
 
Jeff Lee ran his best time in the men's 5,000 (15:51.52) to finish second.
 
Kailey Wright won the women's discus with a toss of 37.24m (122-2). Wright also captured the hammer throw with a toss of 41.27m (135-5).
 
Jeff Lieder won the shot put (14.56m, 47-9) with teammate Ryne Fuhrmark taking third (13.17m, 43-3). The duo came back in the discus with Lieder second (41.02m, 134-7) and Fuhrmark fourth (39.04m, 128-1).
 
Other top performances
In the women's shot, Josie Knight took the top spot (10.90m, 35-9) and Molly Danielson was fourth (10.28m, 33-9). In the javelin, Dana Brooks finished second for the women (38.24m, 125-6) and Alec Miller captured fourth for the men (48.66m, 159-8).
 
Mackenzie Mize finished behind Wright's PR performance to take third in the discus (34.07m, 111-9). Jonathan Sedy finished fourth in the men's triple jump (11.88m, 39-0) as did Desirae DesRosiers in the women's long jump (4.89m, 16-1). Max Lommen took third in the high jump, clearing 1.79m (5-10) as did Tiffany Wall on the women's side (1.46m, 4-9).
 
DesRosiers led the 'Cats in a 2-4 finish in the women's 200. DesRosiers was timed in 27.03 followed by Taylor Petersen (27.85) and Kycie Richwine in fourth (28.45). Petersen came back to finish fourth in the 400 in a time of 1:02.89.
 
Juliet Arnswald earned second place in the 400 hurdles in a time of 1:15.04. Taylor Vicknair finished third in the men's 110 high hurdles (16.03). In the women's 100 high hurdles, Richwine placed third (16.55) and DesRosiers fourth (16.95).
 
Jamie Rodden was runner-up in the women's 1,500, crossing the line in 5:00.42. Rodden doubled back in the 800, taking fourth in 2:28.21.
 
"Our team is really coming together," Olson said. "I am excited to see how things progress as we move closer to the conference meet."
 
Next
Linfield travels to Salem on Saturday for the Willamette Invitational. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
