FOREST GROVE, Ore. – The Linfield women took top team honors and the men's squad placed fifth at the Pacific Preview Invitational Saturday at Hanson Stadium.
The women scored 164 points to outdistance second place Pacific (135.5 points) and George Fox (117 points). The Linfield men were fifth among 10 competing squads with 58 points. George Fox took the team title with 135.5 points and Northwest Christian finished second with 133.
Women
Baylie Cameron beat everyone to tape in the 400-meter hurdles with a winning time of 1:04.06.
Kristen Burke was third to cross the line (1:08.33) and
Desirae DesRosiers was seventh (1:11.24).
The 'Cats also went 1-3-6 in the 800 as
Kaelia Neal won the event in 2:16.48.
Courtney Beard followed two spots behind (2:21.85) and
Michayla Sponsel earned sixth (2:29.17).
Long-distance star
Emma Knudson dropped down to a shorter distance, grabbing first place in the 1,500 in 4:41.28. Beard was second (4:48.16) and
Nicole Bissey dipped under the five-minute mark to earn fourth in 4:58.18. Jamie Rodden was sixth in 5:00.56.
Allie Potter was Linfield's lone entry in the 5,000. Her time of 24:06.37 was good for fifth place.
Kycie Richwine led five different Wildcat placers in the 100 high hurdles. Richwine finished fourth in 16.26. Burke took fifth (16.29), DesRosiers was sixth (16.38), Cameron placed seventh (16.54) and
Mehana Sabado-Halpern placed eighth (16.70).
Taylor Petersen picked up a solid second-place finish in the 400. Petersen clocked 1:02.13 and later followed it up with a sixth-place finish in the 200 (27.53).
Stephanie Willis also picked up a point in the 400 with her eighth-place showing (1:06.78).
In the relay events, the foursome of Petersen, Burke, Sabado-Halpern and Maddie Shirley finished third in the 4x100 relay in a time of 50.82. Cameron replaced Burke in the set for the 4x400 relay which secured second place in 4:06.82.
The best showing in the field events was the high jump, where the 'Cats went 1-2-8. Peterson won the event in 1.52 meters (5-0) followed by Shirley and
Tiffany Wall who finished in a four-way standoff for second (1.47 m, 4-10). Sabado-Halpern ended in a two way tie for eighth (1.37 m, 4-6).
Kailey Wright topped four different Linfield placers in the discus. Wright was fourth in 35.04 meters (115-0) while
MaKenzie Mize finished fifth (34.66 m,13-9),
Molly Danielson seventh (30.52 m, 100-2) and
Rachael Brockamp eighth (29.72 m, 97-6). Wright was also runner-up in the hammer with a toss of 40.98 meters (134-5).
Morgan Chamberlain achieved fifth in the javelin with a toss of 33.02 meters (108-4).
In the jumps,
Hannah Waterman placed eighth in the long jump with a leap of 4.25 (13-11).
Meg Angier ended up in a four-way tie for second place in the pole vault as cleared 3.20 (10-6).
Sara Miles finished in a tie for sixth place in the shot put with a put of 10.42 (34-2) and teammate Brockamp once again picking up an eighth place (10.38, 34-1)
Men
Max Lommen turned in a season-best effort in the high jump. His clearance of 1.81 (5-11) was good for first place, a result of fewer overall misses.
Alec Miller finished seventh in the javelin with a toss of 49.73 (163-2).
Jeff Lieder saved his best throw for his final attempt in the shot put, giving him second place with a distance of 14.59 (47-10). Ryan Fuhrmark picked up one team point, finishing eighth with a put of 12.37 (40-7). The pair came back to place in the discus with Lieder finishing fifth (41.53 m, 136-3) and Fuhrmark eighth (39.21 m, 128-8).
Keaton Wood made his first attempt in the long jump his best, leaping 6.41 (21-0). The mark was good for second place, just missing first place by less than an inch.
Brian Douglas garnered two team points in the long jump, taking seventh place in a leap of 5.95 (19-6).
The trio of
Taylor Vicknair,
Max Patterson and Wood finished fifth, sixth and seventh, respectively, in the 110 high hurdles. Vicknair was timed in 16.08 followed by Patterson in 16.35 and Wood in 16.72.
Travis Crockett and Jonathan Sedy joined Wood and Vicknair in the 4x100 relay, placing sixth overall. The quartet was timed in 45.66.

Linfield heads to Newberg on Saturday to compete in the George Fox Invitational. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
